ATHENS - GREECE will raise the average rate of retirement by two years to 63 by 2015 as part of a spate of measures to clean up its loss-making public sector, the labour minister said on Tuesday. 'There will be a two-year increase of the limits on the average rate of retirement... to bring it back to where it used to be in better times, namely 63 years on average for men and women by 2015,' Labour Minister Andreas Loverdos told reporters after a ministry meeting.

BANGKOK - THAILAND'S attorney-general wants all of former premier Thaksin Shinawatra's US$2.2 billion (S$3.1 billion) fortune to be seized by the court in its ruling this month, the office said in closing arguments Tuesday. Chief of the attorney-general's team, Mr Sekesan Bangsomboon, said the 121-page final document had been submitted to the Supreme Court 'to explain why the assets should be seized and we have asked the court to seize all of it'. Thaksin is living in exile to escape a two-year jail term for graft handed to him in absentia in October 2008.

HONG KONG - THE Hong Kong studio behind TMNT and Astro Boy has shut down as its parent company tries to recover from losses. Imagi International Holdings Ltd said in a statement to the Hong Kong stock exchange that it stopped funding its computer animation studio on Feb 5 'to further preserve its limited liquidity and shareholder value'. THE number of visitors to Singapore fell by 4.3 per cent last year to 9.7 million, driving the revenue from the sector down 19 per cent to S$12.4 billion, the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) said on Tuesday.The number was still slightly higher than the STB's target of 9 to 9.5 million visitors, which, analysts said, was conservative.
