Life Picks Ep 66: Jay Chou's 2019 Singapore stop; where to find less salty and spicy mala

17:33 mins

Synopsis: Every Thursday, The Straits Times highlights the best films, concerts, restaurants and arts events you can catch in Singapore over the coming weeks.

This week, Money FM's Claressa Monteiro chats with ST assistant Life editor Boon Chan about the highly-anticipated Jay Chou concert on Jan 10 &11.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of Chou's career, and the Mandopop star will be coming to Singapore for his Carnival World Tour.

STFood online editor Hedy Khoo shares about Lai Jie Jia Seafood, which sells a variety of fresh seafood dishes, but finds the Mala Hai Luo especially impressive. Hai Luo is known as "gong gong" locally, and as the chef is from Shandong, his cooking style is slightly less salty and less spicy compared with the typical mala flavour.

Right next to Lai Jie Jia Seafood, in the same coffeeshop, is Lai Jie Jia La Mian, where the noodles are handmade, pulled by the chef himself. Find out more by listening in.
